Sirens fade, and the sound that replaces them is silence. We start with a ground-level look at Hurricane Melissa’s record-breaking strike on Jamaica—roofs torn from concrete, Montego Bay split by floodwater, power gone for most of the island, and health officials warning that crocodiles could ride the surge into neighborhoods. As the system slammed Cuba and aimed for the Bahamas, we follow the ripple effects: overwhelmed hospitals, submerged farms in St. Elizabeth, stranded tourists, and a recovery that hinges on more than a catastrophe bond.

Back on the mainland, we trace a different shockwave: a potential halt to SNAP benefits during a government shutdown. Forty-two million Americans rely on EBT, and viral rumors about Walmart lockdowns and parking-lot pickups have raced ahead of confirmed policy. We separate speculation from statements, map what a synchronized pause in benefits could mean for grocery demand and trucking, and explore why food security is more than a headline—it’s infrastructure. The throughline is trust: when leaders stall and communication lags, fear fills the gaps.

We bring the labor story into focus with reports of cashiers losing cash drawers, Amazon layoffs, and the steady advance of automation. Then we get practical about resilience: which careers are harder to automate, how to pivot skills, and why human judgment, care, and creativity still matter. Along the way, we address an unfolding celebrity crime case and how partial leaks shape public perception, before closing with Suge Knight’s unsentimental guidance for Diddy on surviving prison—watch your back, improve yourself, avoid the noise.

If this conversation helped you make sense of a chaotic news cycle, share it with a friend, tap follow, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show. What’s the one change—policy or personal—you think would make the biggest difference right now?

Has anybody been able to check in with uh Big R? Um, I know she had a daughter, I believe, or a family member, a daughter that was in Jamaica. She did check back in uh through a comment section yesterday, uh saying that she she's been just busy with that. Shatter the love, y'all. The lie, like the live, please, and thank you. What's going on? Members only. She said, share the love. Good to see everybody. Yeah, if anybody can get any information on Big R, uh, we need to pass it along so we can check on her and the family. Um, because her, like I said, her daughter, I believe, was in uh Jamaica. And you know, with all the hurricane and stuff going on, let's let's let's go over what the hell done went on in uh in the in the it's just a it's just a crazy time, y'all. Yeah, I think she follows me, but I I can't I can't find her page. Um she follows me on I think she follows me on Instagram and Facebook. Good morning, grandma Kathy. Hey Angelina, anything going on with your husband or anything? Anything we need to be praying about? Any word from your husband, what what happened? Thank you, God. Thank you, God, for always surrounding me by with beautiful women. I don't know what I did to deserve it, but I take it. All right, so let's go into that. So Jamaica, so let's as we check in on our folks with the Jamaica stuff, let's let's read a little information on this.

SPEAKER_02:

Um Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica.

SPEAKER_01:

Jamaicans wake to devastation as hurricane causes floods, power cuts, and and splits city in two. Let's get a little update on what the hell has been going on there. That's good to hear, uh Angelina. Definitely good to hear. So the normal soundtrack that accompanies Jamaican life is silent this morning, as many have woken to know electricity. About three-quarters of the island is without power, and many parts of it's western side are underwater, with homes destroyed by strong winds after Hurricane Melissa tore across the island with catastrophic force. It says here, as wind and rain lashed through the night, one local official said the destruction resembled the scene of an apocalypse movie. They say it looked like one of the movies, one of the end of the world. Uh, and many parts of its western side are underwater. As wind and rain last through the night, one local official said the destruction resembled the scene of an apocalypse movie. With communications crippled, the true scale of the disaster remains unknown. Prime Minister Andrew Honus declared the island a disaster area late Tuesday, warning of devastating impacts and significant damage to hospitals, homes, and businesses. Although no deaths have yet been confirmed, Montego Bay's mayor, Richard Vernon, told the BBC his first task at daybreak would be to check if everybody is alive. Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm to strike Jamaica in its modern history, barreled across the county. I'm sorry, the country on Tuesday, leaving behind a trail of ruin. At its peak, the hurricane sustained winds of 298 kilometers stronger than Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in 2005 and killed 1,392 people. So this was a hell of a fucking hurricane. It resembled the scene of an apocalypse apocalypse movie. An MP in Western Jamaica told Kingston-based journalist Kimon Francis of the Jamaican Gleaner. Francis described the night as stressful and intense, marked by relentless heavy wind and rain. You don't have a connection. Flood waters rose to the roofs of two-story homes. One anonymous woman told the BBC, there's water coming in through the roof of my house. I am not okay. Damn. Damn, y'all. Water flooding on the ground and flooding so high that it comes in through the roof. While no fatalities have been confirmed, Jamaica's prime minister told CNN he feared there would be some loss of life. Damage, he said, was widespread, hitting hospitals, schools, homes, and businesses. Local government minister Desmond McKenzie said on Tuesday afternoon that the southwestern parish of St. Elizabeth was totally underwater with at least three families trapped in their homes in the Black River community. So we got families trapped in their homes. It's already hitting Cuba. Oh, yeah, the videos are sad. It's already hitting Cuba. It's at a category three in Cuba. We'll go over that too. Um, rescue teams are struggling to reach the people who are trapped in their homes because of the dangerous position uh conditions. Verna Guinness was sheltering from the storm at her four-bedroom home in the village of Carlisle, St. Elizabeth when the hurricane zipped the zinc roof off her house. The 73-year-old vegetable farmer was in the house with her sons and baby grandchild when the hurricane made landfall over the area. Verna has lost communications due to the power lines being down. But her UK-based sister, June Powell, spoke to BBC about what happened. She was crying on the phone, June said, adding, you are huddled up inside, and then you look up and your roof is gone. I have never heard her like that. So she was huddled up in the house, y'all. Next thing they know, the whole fucking roof of the house is gone. She is anxiously waiting for the communications networks to be restored so she can talk to her sister. St. Elizabeth, known as Jamaica's breadbasket, produces much of the island's produce with crumbs submerged and fields destroyed. Many farmers will struggle to financially recover. This has even wiped out many farmers. This shit is sad. Montego City was split in two by flood waters. Mayor Vernon said he told BBC Breakfast, once the wind subsided, we started to get a lot of heavy rain, and that has led to massive floods across the city. One of the city is now, one side of the city is now cut off from the other due to roads being uh just completely covered and flooded. It's just shh. All my Jamaican fans out there, I'm with you. Prayers for sure. This is just. Damn. Rachel says some say they seen crocodiles swimming in the water. Oh my God. And sharks. Man, they seen crocodiles and sharks. Man. Man, oh man. Let's continue. Uh, so now the city is divided. And they're still checking to make sure people are uh that people are alive and haven't passed on. In rural Jamaica, uh the storm has left people shaken. Tamisha Lee, president of the Jamaican Network, a rural woman producers, said right now, what I'm seeing is heavy rain, powerful wind, a lot of things flying all over the city, places, and trees uprooted. There is no electricity. I'm feeling anxious and tense. The damage will be enormous. Meteorologists have said Hurricane Melissa intensified at a speed rarely seen. It's rapid strengthening, fueled by abnormally warm, warm Caribbean parks and waters. And they're linking all this to climate change. By the time it struck Jamaica, the storm had reached a category five strength with gusts fierce enough to tear roots from concrete homes, uproot trees, and snap power poles. Health officials even issued a crocodile warning cautioning that floodwaters could drive the reptiles into residential areas. So they're talking about them crocodiles, y'all seen. They're even talking about it in the articles. For thousands of tourists calling the island, the storm brought terror and uncertainty. Somebody said, I've never heard anything like it. Who traveled to Jamaica with their 15-year-old son on Saturday. Speaking of BBC Radio 5 live from her darkened hotel room, she said the glass and the windows and the patio doors were all vibrating. The doors sounded like they were slamming, even though they were closed. It was horrendous. Man, I know people were scared shitless behind this crap. She added, there's debris everywhere. Palm trees, coconuts, branches all over the place. The big palm trees with all the roots are up. That's how strong the winds have been. On the North Coast, Wayne Gibson, a British tourist uh from Kent, holidaying in uh Okoreas with his wife and two teenage daughters, told BBC Radio Force Today program that they were sheltering in a communal communal hall. Uh Kyle Holmes from Bolton visiting in the Northwest described the hotel as a disaster zone. And said he had no idea when they would be able to get home. It's people stuck there that don't even know when they're gonna get home. So are people stuck over there? Or no? When will people be able to fly home? I wonder. Hurricane Melissa had moved on to make landfall in Cuba by early this morning, leaving Jamaica paralyzed and silent. Though it has since weakened to a category three, it remains powerful with wind speeds over 124 miles per hour. Jamaica has a uh catastrophe bond, a type of insurance for the country, which will hopefully allow people to get back on their feet. But the issues is what's done in the interim. Damn, damn, damn, damn. So let's see what what's going on in in in in uh what uh happened with Cuba since it hit Cuba today so far. This is sad, y'all. This is really sad. Lily said the good. Where's Flo? Where's Flo? What do you mean where's Flo?

SPEAKER_02:

I'm right here.

SPEAKER_01:

When are people gonna get the hell out of be able to get out of Jamaica? Are any flights coming out of there? So let's see what happened. Uh Hurricane Melissa storm strikes Cuba after tearing through Jamaica. So as we just read, this from the ABC News. Let's see what the hell happened in Cuba. Uh uh Hurricane Melissa tore a path of destruction across Jamaica on Tuesday, prompting the prime minister to declare the country a natural disaster area. After the storm made landfall, as it quit Category 5 hurricane, one of the most powerful landfalls on record in the Atlantic. Melissa is now Category as it tears through Cuba. Uh Melissa to exit Cuba to take aim at Bahamas next. So now it's about to hit the Bahamas. Rain totals could it reach twenty-five inches or higher elevations? Man, storm surge is still affecting the islands. Cuba is experiencing a surge of up to 12 feet along the southeast coast with five to eight feet of surge possible in the Bahamas through Wednesday. As Melissa moves into the Atlantic Ocean, it is expected to pass close to Bermuda late on Thursday. Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Cuba early this morning as a Category 3 confirmed by the National Hurricane Center. The NHC said the storm remains extremely dangerous with maximum sustained winds nearly 120 miles per hour. Trump popped in. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that his administration was prepared to move on sending humanitarian aid to Jamaica amid the devastation. We have to, is what Trump told reporters. We're watching it closely and we're prepared to move, but but you know it's doing tremendous damage, damages as we speak. I've never seen a guess, I've never seen, I guess, it can get that hot. I've never seen it, Trump said. And it's literally just, you know, knocking down everything in front of it. It's at a stage five, I guess, and you don't see stage five. You don't see five. You see fours and threes, but this is a five early on, meaning it gets worse. It's tearing shit up. What's up, Ida? Yeah, her well, Hurricane Katrina, I believe, was a stage five. Let's see what we got going on in the chat. We got Island in the building. What's going on, Ireland? Good to see you, good to see you. Welcome to the finest chat in the land. Terra said, Lily, are you on Instagram?

SPEAKER_02:

Trump said he's gonna help him.

SPEAKER_01:

Hey, what's up, Lindsay? We got Lindsay in the building, y'all. What's up, Lindsay? We got the gang pouring in. Lily, are you on Instagram? Happy Hump Day. Elise says morning, Lindsay. Lindsay said happy Hump day. And Tehara said Trump needs to go sit his ass down somewhere. Uh Grandma Kathy says we can ask Rump Trump to blow his hot air on the hurricane and keep it out keep it out in the ocean. Good idea. Grandma Kathy with the profile pick. I just noticed a beautiful profile pick. Grandma Kathy, check out Grandma Kathy's beautiful profile pick, y'all. And Lindsay. We're coming through with our profile picks this morning. On our members on left, our members on left. On lay, our members on left. For members on left, on lay. Yeah, y'all. So another thing, pray for everybody involved. Pray for everybody involved. But another thing, um, I ran across an article I wanted to go over too, with y'all. And it's talking about oh, Shug Knight spoke on Diddy. We'll probably get to that too. Uh matter of fact, fuck it. Let's see. Let's let's let's let's let's let's now I'm gonna go to David. What a David first. Oh, let's get some news to pass around. Let's get some news to pass around for uh Donald Trump says SNAP benefits will be solved for November. So let's see what this is talking about, because that's that's been a subject everybody has been talking about. Food stamps. As of right now, no food stamps for November, but they're still working on some shit. So let's see what they're working on. President Donald Trump has suggested, this is from Newsweek, by the way. President Donald Trump has suggested his administration may find a way to fund supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits during the ongoing government shutdown. Speaking on board Air Force One during his trip to Asia, Trump told reporters we're going to get it done, but offered no details on how it might happen. Now, around 42 million low and to no income Americans collect SNAP benefits every month, which are uploaded onto electronic uh benefit transfer cards to be used in grocery stores. We call them food stamps. As these funds have not been made available due to lack of an agreement and the Senate between the Democrats and Republicans, uh, the U.S. Department of Culture has confirmed that benefits cannot be paid. The government shutdown has now reached its 29th day running since October 1st. Ain't that something though? These politicians, with all this money and getting all this money donated to their campaign and all their little sideline deals and all of that, and they can't come to an agreement or keep 42 million Americans who depend on these food stamps. You can't keep their food stamps going. So they so they just got one less thing to worry about about how they're gonna fucking eat. What is so complicated that you gotta have Democrats and people in the Senate and all of that arguing back and forth to the point where now they can't get a deal. Now we got 42 million Americans panicking about how they're gonna eat.

SPEAKER_02:

What sense does that make?

SPEAKER_01:

Melissa says she saw a video that they had a meeting about to shut down, and there is a fund where they can move to be able to pay for the snap benefits, but they're choosing not to. It's ridiculous. Like, I bet you none of the listen, no about nobody in the Senate, nobody in the government that's making this decision, none of them are worried about how they're gonna eat. I guarantee you. I guarantee you, none of them are worried about how they're gonna eat. But they don't have the decency to at least make sure whatever whatever they got going on, it should have never affected the snap benefits. They should say, look, we shut down, but snap benefits will be paid. Just so these people ain't worried and concerned and and and and crying and upset, but they don't give a fuck. Because they're not affected. They eating, they ain't worried about eating. Oh yeah, people are definitely, man, it's a it's it's literally people are talking about looting, it's literally a bounty on Walmart. Literally, literally a bounty on Walmart, y'all. Meaning they saying with it with no benefits, they say if it's no benefits, then they are going to Walmart, all the Walmarts, and actually they actually talking about meeting at certain Walmarts and robbing the shit. People are talking about robbing Walmart. So yeah, they definitely talking about Luton. And I don't know if y'all heard have y'all heard about any other place besides Walmart? Melissa, hey, look, Melissa's also said Melissa, you've been watching some videos, Melissa. Melissa says she saw a video about how if there's no groceries being bought, then that means the truck drivers, um, whole chain of our goods and services are going to be going down as well. Yeah, it's gonna affect a lot. It's gonna affect a lot of people. No, C Tuck is a uh a member on Buzzprout to here. C Tuck is a member on BuzzProut, so he's not a member on joint on YouTube. He's a member on Buzzsprout, though, so he gets the audio version. Um so shout out to C Tuck when he hears this audio version. They always asking about you in the chat. So shout out to C Tucky. And like Lindsay said, remember, I was talking about that the other day. Uh uh AI is replacing our workforce. And Lindsay, we spoke about that the other day on the show. I was saying, like, we need to um uh uh uh encourage our youth to get jobs or pick career paths that can't be replaced. And I know that's easier said than done, but man, you gotta you got to you have to have a job that they can't replace because that's where we are as a society right now. We we we trying to we trying to replace we trying to replace everybody with robots and shit. So if you uh if you giving giving somebody career advice uh tell them to do something that can't be replaced. Tell them to do some shit that can't be replaced. It just don't make no sense. It don't make no sense, y'all.

SPEAKER_02:

Let's see what we got here.

SPEAKER_01:

Damn. Hey, when when did this happen? What's up, Fire Glory? Fire Glory stepped in the in the building. But uh Melissa, what you talking about? You went to Giant Eco yesterday and they don't have cash in the register? The cashiers don't have any bank anymore. Man, they about to get rid of cashiers, y'all. They about to get rid of the cashiers, y'all. They are about to get rid of the cashiers. Oh, somebody said, What's going on with all about Amazon? Y'all talking about what Amazon fired or got rid of all those positions? Amazon's land off, man, Amazon is laying off 14,000 workers. Lily said, I guess we don't need human beings anymore. Lindsay said to add insult to injury, our health care costs are going up. Man, they got people they got people plotting. They got people plotting on Walmart. Robbing Walmart, man, it's just bad, man. Uh now they're talking about looting. And the thing is, y'all, they're talking about individual uh like they are like marking individual Walmarts and like like through social media, they are like people have been like planning attacks and say and saying stuff like, look, they can't rob, they can't rob us all. So they say they read a report, EBT recipients going all out in Walmart, looting. The struggle is real. Man, they feel why is it feeling like we in a we in a we damn near be like a third world. We move into a third world country type of vibe. This shit is crazy. So let's see what they're saying. Walmart said to lose billions from Snap Benefits. Is Walmart closing November 1st? Because now, what I heard before we get into this article, I heard that Walmart, and tell me if y'all heard this in the chat. Did y'all hear that Walmart is gonna close down on the first and only allow people to order on um? Only let people order online. Did y'all hear that? Put a one in the chat if you heard that Walmart was gonna close down um on the first, or just close down either on the first or just for November in general. I don't know. But if if it's no snap benefits, they said they're gonna close down and just do online orders. Put a one in the chat if you heard that. And we're gonna go into this article and maybe they might talk about it in this article. Rumors that Walmart will lock their doors on November 1st, the first due to snap benefits. Uh facing cuts during the government shutdown has sparked the flurry of TikTok claims that the retail giant will only allow online orders and parking lot pickups. The online era has been fueled by unverified claims that uh those losing snap benefits plan to loot Walmart stores uh leading to their closure. Two TikTok videos with the combined 1.7 million views as uh as of October 28th have amplified rumors that all Walmart stores will close November 1st with doors locked, and shoppers only allowed to place online orders uh for parking lot pickup. One of the TikTok videos with over a million views uh posted by Uncut Realness claims Walmart's decision came after y'all kept acting a fool and saying y'all was gonna what what y'all was gonna do if y'all didn't get snap benefits. The second video posted by Cabel Cavan on TikTok claims the brookies made a threat to Walmart. That they will go straight to Walmart if everything get everything they need. As of right now, though, uh Walmart, they're saying Walmart's not gonna be closing or locking their doors uh November 1st. Unverified social media claims have swirled online fed by two now viral videos. I don't know, y'all. All I know is this shit getting weird. Oh, breaking news, y'all. Uh Grandma Kathy just got to her happy place. She says white sandy beach with blue water. Uh, with blue water and two handsome men bringing my umbrella uh drinks and cold fruit. LOL L O LUMATER PUNGET THE MECKER THEY THE CALLECTER PEOPLE CATY CATY HAVE SOME. WHIS WE COULD SWIT PLAS WHAT IT THING THE FARE THINK IT THING THE FORMA CATI, OR We ARELES OF THE BEEC. I mean, I don't need no handsome man um bringing my umbrella drinks, but uh the uh the the the white sandy beach sounds good. Grandma Kathy, Grandma Kathy at the beach this early.

SPEAKER_02:

Um moving right along uh David.

SPEAKER_01:

We have a reputation and he's a famous person. So either people are going to love him or they're going to hate him it's gonna be a great area so I'm not so I'm quite sure uh there's going to be a lot of controversy going on. Sean Combs and Suge Knight feuded in the early thought Knight put that animosity aside but he came out if it's about surviving in prison don't listen to nobody uh don't listen to nobody in prison. Go there and do your own thing first thing you do don't worry about who got your back have your own back and use your time to better yourself use your time working out getting your health better stay away from drugs stay away from unnecessary BS and make sure you make it home safely but you but but you're not home until you home. Be prepared to fight there's no way of telling whether this advice will get to Diddy or be even be put into use before his prison sentence however it's fair to say that given Suge Knight's curved position he has a lot of experience uh navigating in prison so Suge Knight said uh Diddy better be prepared to fight uh in whatever uh whatever this prison he's gonna be in grandma Cathy said did you read where the family was getting ten thousand dollars a month Tara said she was never missing and she was so whatever y'all sent me Melissa whatever you sent me maybe we go over it tomorrow whatever you sent me to my uh Instagram maybe we go over tomorrow so if y'all send me send me whatever we got for the David stuff uh Tahara if you could get it to me to her Melissa if y'all got more information about the David case uh definitely send it to my um send it to me on Instagram or Facebook send me some links and then maybe we try to go over some shit tomorrow other than that y'all a lot of work To do on this Wednesday.
